2500+ Thank You’s

I recently hit 2,500 WordPress followers. I humbly thank each and every one of you for following me. It has been an amazing journey and I am continuing to grow and learn with each passing month.

I’ve changed the layout of my blog and I’m trying some new things this year. Tell me what you think. I’m also going to start promoting the works of others. Bear with me as I will be out of commission for the next couple of weeks.

But, more importantly, I want to say that I am thankful for each and every one of you. You continue to read and engage me in my posts and I’m genuinely thankful for the interaction. You’ve become family. Here’s to continued growth for all of us.

2000 Thanks

I’ve been a little busy. I forgot to tell you that I have reached over 2,000 WordPress followers. As of today, I’m at 2,053.

I’m truly honored at the fact that you chose to follow me. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. I value each and every one of you.

This year has been one for the books. There were many ups and downs, but it has been nothing short of amazing. Who would have thought it was less than a year ago that was I writing my 1,000 Followers! post.

I’ve increased my followers 100% in less than a year. Wow! I’m so thankful that you decided to follow this divorced mama with a passion for children, life and love. Hopefully, you’ve checked out my about me page and learned Who Am I?

If not, please do. But, I am going to follow suit from one of my other bloggers, Rosie from  Rosie Culture who asked fellow readers to feel free to ask questions and respond. I’m going to do the same. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments and I will respond in a post next week to all your questions.

Thanks again!

1000 Thoughts

Guess what I discovered yesterday morning? WordPress sent me this beautiful notification…

1000

Can you believe it? I’ve written or shared 1000 posts. Mainly written, but it is an awesome thing to know. I’m not doing this as a joke but for pleasure and purpose. I enjoy writing and sharing and interacting with you all.  If my posts inspire just one person to know that you are not alone and that I too have experienced similar things then I’ve done my job.

I’m not a stat watcher and my stats fluctuate often. Nature of the beast I guess. I love writing and I love blogging. Best advice that I can give is…do what you love. That’s it. Don’t worry about growing your followers, increasing your stats or spamming people. Be diligent about your craft and work your process. Legitimately.

Thank you for reading and following me along this journey. It’s been an eventful ride on a bumpy road, but such is life. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Danny’s World: A Common Question

It’s funny, I have no where near the numbers of followers that Danny and Jason have, but I get asked this question a lot too. Please check out what Danny has to say about growing your blog. He is one of the main people that I followed when I started to blog. Read him and you will understand why.

March Goals

February was one of the best months that I’ve had ever since I’ve been blogging. Here are my stats for February.

My March goals are as follows:

  • Post 35 times
  • Share at least 5 posts this month
  • Do 2 Book Reviews
  • Share an Interview
  • Follow 5 quality bloggers this month

February Was Good

Today is the last day of the month. It is the shortest month. It was a good month in many ways. I met my goal of posting or sharing at least 30 times this month. I went home to Tennessee to see my dad. I had an awesome Valentine’s Day with my son and Mr. C and I had a wonderful belated Valentine’s Day. My son made honor roll again.

You know what else? I had more views to my little ole’ blog than ever before. I am truly humbled and thankful that people are viewing, commenting and following me. It really means a lot to me. I also learned some hard lessons that I will share with you in the coming weeks. Please bear with me.

However, despite disappointments, adversities and setbacks I’ve realized that February was good. It was a good month and I’m looking forward to March being just as good. I have a couple of projects that I need to finish including a couple of book reviews that I will be getting out in the next couple of weeks. I thank you for your encouragement, your patience and your wonderful posts that let me know that I am not alone.

You all are wonderful. February was good, but let’s make March better. Let’s get ready to step into Spring and clean up our houses: mentally, physically, financially and emotionally.

Pimping for Likes

A lot of bloggers have been posting their stats because it shows an increase in traffic to their blog. That’s awesome. We all want traffic to our blogs. That signifies growth for many of us.

However, there are some bloggers that aren’t doing that. You can tell by some of their depressing posts about not getting followers, viewers or maybe they should just stop blogging. A very pessimistic view towards blogging starts to emerge.  So, I ask the questions…

  • Are we mainly blogging for traffic?
  • Are we pimping our content for likes instead of writing genuinely?

The question was asked by another blogger, Jason, An Opinionated Man, whether you are here for the views. Do you care about the number of views? Great question right? Many bloggers are definitely here for views because they are writers who want to increase traffic and/or promote their books. Jason, has over 1.4 million views to his blog. But, what if you never get that many views to your blog?

all time views

Will you stop blogging? Will you think your blog worthless?  Jason spends a lot of time giving tips to other bloggers, promoting their blogs and writing himself  (his own book of poetry and blog posts). One of the lessons that is apparent in those that have a huge viewing or following is that they spend a lot of time blogging. If this is a part-time hobby for you then why should you care about views? Check out my views: 21,176. I’m no where near as big as Jason’s blog.

My all-time daily view was 307 on November 9, 2014. It was for this short story called By Faith that I published on this great blog I love called For Harriet. That was my all time high. Does it matter that I haven’t gotten more views than that? Nope, but what I am learning from that is that if I want more traffic I need to increase exposure by publishing on blogs that have a huge readership.

Well, here are my stats from February:

feb2016stats

Is it a bad thing that I don’t have that many views? Nope. I’m growing at the pace I’m supposed to. Sure, I would love to be bigger, who doesn’t? But, I ask myself this question…Do I have the time to write more than what I’m writing? The answer is no. I work a full-time job, do volunteer work, have a 7 year old son (who has activities) and I’m trying to be healthier. That means that I work out, hang out with my friends and read your blogs.

I’ve said before that I read between 100 – 200 posts a day because they feed through my email. Some of ya’ll post 3 times a day or more. LOL. I would have to cut that short or sleep less. I need sleep. I’m a better person because I’m well rested. I love the interactions with other bloggers and I love reading other people’s posts. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but for me right now I’m content with all that I have.
