Somewhere Between

I know that I sort of checked out after last week. I apologize. Life has been hectic. The comings and goings of motherhood, work and co-parenting and the other social activities have me burning the candles at both ends on some days. I missed ya’ll. So, ya’ll want to know what happened to me and my best friend after therapy? I’ll update you on that in tomorrow’s post.

But, I wanted to let you know what’s been going on with me besides my love life or lack thereof and I want to update you on the changes that I’m making with this blog…

Well, Munch completed his second quarter and earned a 3.68. He got 12 A’s, 1 B and 1 C. The C was in math and we’re working on bringing that up. Some things that I’ve learned with observing him this quarter is that his teacher is using on-line math portals more than anything this year. I’m completely fine with that. We’re in a digital age. However, Munch isn’t reading the math questions he’s guessing at the answers. The question will appear and instead of trying to work the problem to determine the answer he’ll render a guess. Ugh! It is super frustrating.

I’ve managed to get him to keep paper and pencil handy to work his math problems and to click the ‘help’ button on the questions. Do you know that the ‘help’ button literally walks you through how to answer the question with different numbers? Incredible huh? We didn’t have this when I was matriculating through elementary school. I love it though. I’ve committed to watching Munch when he does his on-line math homework to make sure that he’s actually trying to solve the problem before guessing. He’s still doing math tutoring and it’s exhausting running around in the evenings after school, but any and all help is what I’m pushing for.

Last month we volunteered for MLK’s Day of Service with Mothers of Black Boys United (MOBB United) and had a blast. Check out my Munch. It felt good to give back. We all need to help others.

This blog. Ya’ll know that I love this blog right? I do. I bought my domain a few year ago, I’m considering self-hosting and I’m writing like crazy whether it is being a part of another writer’s book (check out these two books that I’m in Letters to Girls Who Dream of Flying and Daddy: Reflections of Father-Daughter Relationships) or writing short stories, I need to breathe and get back on track. I set some serious goals for 2019 and one of which is to get published on some big sites and finish the first draft of my own book. I can’t do it alone.

I’m literally finding excuses to not get done what needs to get done and be accountable to myself. So, that’s what I’m doing. I’m going to try to be accountable. I plan on doing some poetry nights and get out there to hone my craft. I’m going to spend some time doing workshops with the youth and just be present to motivate others and garner the exposure.

I’m still going to write on this blog often and share my life, my dating stories and all things parenting but I’m also going to do more guest hosting. I decided to partner with another gentleman who will be writing some posts on this blog weekly. He’ll be sharing his point of view on all things from love, dating, relationships and life in general. We are literally pouring our creative juices into this blog so you will feel the creativity.

His name is Marc and I’ll be introducing him in the next couple of days. I want you to read, comment and share the posts that resonate with you. He will be responding back to you. This is a blogging community. A family really and I value and thank God for each and every one of you daily.

The changes include: more guest bloggers, a regular contributor to the blog will be added and even a male/female view on common dating questions. I’m back in the dating field and I’m sure that there will be a lot that I have to share. The game hasn’t changed, but hopefully the players have.

That’s about all that I have right now. I will follow-up with the close of my series about me being my best friend’s crutch tomorrow.  My first guest blogger’s post will be on Friday. It will be Clinton H. Wilson Jr. who writes over at A King’s Truth. He’s also Co-Host of G.F.T. Radio. Check him out and show him so love when his post debuts.

  1. Wish I had a math portal when I was in school! I always struggled, math was always my lowest grade. But I would do the same thing on multiple choice tests, try to solve for the answers listed instead of actually trying to solve the problem. I’m looking forward to reading Marc’s posts and the guest blogs 🙂

      1. Okay. Understood. I don’t want to pressure him. I just want him to work the problem and utilize the help button that explains exactly how to do the problem just with different numbers. LOL. I told him that if you’re trying your best then that is all that matters.
