My message today is later than normal. I apologize. It seems that I keep apologizing for never posting. Some days I’m wondering what I could possibly tell you. Others my head has too many words to put pen to paper.
But, I started to think about something over the weekend and I wanted to share it with you in my Motivational Monday moment. It’s about the pause. That’s what I’ve been doing a lot of lately…pausing.
Learning to pause when things get overwhelming. Pausing. Not speaking out of anger. Learning to pause my emotions when things are going crazy. Pausing relationships that don’t serve a purpose. There’s peace in the pause. It allows you to redirect yourself and reflect on the lessons in the pause.
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to curse someone out? How about that person that cut you off in traffic this morning? The person that stepped in front of you at the line at the coffee shot? Did you pause? There’s purpose in our pause.
When we allow ourselves to deescalate our feelings we are able to pause and be mindful of the words that we use. Pausing allows us to get our minds right before proceeding in difficult and hostile situations. You’re able to reflect on the situation and answer in an honest and straightforward manner. No need to overreact. You’ve calmed down. You paused before responding.
Pause has saved many a folk from getting cursed out.
I’ve realized that as I’ve aged there is strength in the pause. Strength in knowing that I can control my emotions and reactions to the situation. Dang, that’s powerful.
Pausing is about control. I guess that’s what I wanted to share with you this morning. Learn to be in control of who you are. Your emotions, your actions, your time. Reflection happens when we pause. Let’s remember to pause.
Happy Monday folks!

No need to apologize. I think we should gives ourselves permission to be absent from the blog from time to time. Some days it’s writer’s block. Other days there is so much to say that the filtering process collapses while trying to transform thoughts into words.
Sometimes, even writing requires pause.
