Motivational Monday Moment – 12.10.18

I’m back with the Motivational Monday Moment. For my new readers, this is where I try to encourage you to keep pushing on despite your circumstances. Trust me – I’ve fallen victim to my own circumstances and have wallowed in the hells of despair only to be reminded that trouble don’t last always and that this right now is temporary.

This last month has been hell. Chaos all around me that put me in a negative mind space. I was literally grasping at straws to keep from cursing and losing my dang mind. I was angry and although I had every right to be I was letting the chaos of the situation alter my core. I was keeping that anger inside and was ready to kick some butt.

Chaos-Quotes-And-Chaos-Sayings-Images1

Until the 1st of December.

I had a session with my therapist who had been out of town for the last month and she centered my soul. She said to me that I need to ask God to give me peace in the situation. She reminded me that the Bible says…

Philippians 4:7 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

She told me that God would give me peace but I needed to pray for myself. I needed to pray to God to give me peace. Wow! She was right. I was praying for everyone around me but not for me. I needed to pray for myself. And in her office that day she prayed over me and my spirit and God gave me peace. It was as though he had been waiting for me to come to him on behalf of myself.

d5dce5abcdceb71811fbbac57ffed34b

I surrendered my all and got peace in my spirit. This peace is helping me in the chaos of my life to stand and just let God be God. I can’t stop the chaos, but I can surrender to be peaceful. God is in control of it all.

That is my wish for you today. That you surrender to the peace and know that this season is only temporary. That the chaos will come but if you ask God for peace, I promise you that He will give it to you. What will you ask Him for today?

Motivational Monday Moment – 07.16.18

It’s Monday and I’m sitting here trying to figure out ways to motivate and encourage you this week and honestly I struggled. My mind is a little cloudy because I had too much rest this weekend. I wasn’t prepared for my motivational post and I felt stuck. Writer’s block was killing me. I couldn’t find the perfect quote to uplift your spirits this week, until a Google search revealed the perfect quote. This quote by R.G. Moon states “There’s something about a woman with a loud mind that sits in silence, smiling knowing she can crush you with the truth.”

Isn’t it perfect? I think this quote could apply to anyone (male or female), but have you ever been in a situation where someone was trying to destroy your character? To break down your image? Lying on you for the benefit of their own selfish gain? Nope? Well wait, you’re still young enough to have haters in your life and you might just get some.

Haters are like parasites. They latch on the good in you…your name, your image or anything positive about you and then try to manipulate people into believing that you are less than who you are. They are people who can’t for their own insecurities ever begin to comprehend your greatness.

Don’t worry about them. Because you know what? You are great! You are unstoppable. You can’t be moved by actions of the evil and wicked. You need to remain unbothered by their behavior.

You smile and keep living your best life. You disregard the games and mind manipulations of the wicked because God’s promises are real. Evil doers have no place in this world. It says so in His word:

Proverbs 24:19-20 New Living Translation (NLT)

19 Don’t fret because of evildoers;
    don’t envy the wicked.
20 For evil people have no future;
the light of the wicked will be snuffed out.

Just keep focusing on God’s word and know that you will overcome. I’ve been there. I’ve had people attack me with their lies, manipulations and attempts to manifest issues that aren’t there. I just stand. I stand on truth. I stand on God’s promises. I just smile and reflect like it says in the quote: I can crush you with the truth.

That’s the message that I want to leave you with this Monday. My Motivational Monday Moment is simply to be encouraged and be still. God’s an awesome God and the evil doers in your life have no future. The truth about their lies and manipulation will come out. Your God is greater than the mess of miserable.

Motivational Monday Moment – 06.11.18

Today’s Motivational Monday Moment inspired me after reading this quote which says “Just for today, allow yourself to embrace all that you are every moment. Know that you are a vessel of light. Allow yourself to release all doubts about your ability, the mistakes of the past, the fear of the future.” It is by Iyanla Vanzant. Isn’t it wonderful? It truly inspired me this morning.

I wanted to tell you that no matter what you are going through you need to embrace life. Embrace the fact that you are where you are supposed to be at this moment in time. No matter what you are going through you need to understand that it is where you are supposed to be. Don’t doubt your journey. Don’t fear the future because your past. Your past was a lesson.

I didn’t lose myself in my relationship with Mr. C. I remembered who I was and where I’m supposed to be. It was a lesson. Sometimes we need to remember that. No matter the hurt, the pain or the anger you’re feeling – you need to embrace all that. You are are invaluable. You are so worthy of all the love and happiness and success you can stand. Trust yourself. Trust the process.

Nothing in life is a mistake. It is a lesson and lessons are important. They remind us to keep learning. Just learn what you’re supposed to learn and know that it is preparation for your success. You matter.

Motivational Monday Moment – 06.04.18

I saw this quote and wanted to share it for my Motivational Monday Moment. It says “If life can remove someone you never dreamed of losing, it can replace them with someone you never dreamt of having.” This quote really summarizes what I’ve been feeling these last few weeks about the ending of my relationship with Mr. C.

I never imagined that I would find and have a healthy love with a man that was kind, strong and passionate that it was hard imagining my life without him. But, that is not the case. Life happens. Sometimes you stand at that fork in the road and you know that you have no choice but to go left while they go right. It is life.

There are no winners in this situation. There are those that decided to make an adult decision about their future. It is a break-up. It hurts. I couldn’t imagine not being with someone that I loved deeply and admired. Someone who gave me strength. But, it is my reality now.

I am thankful for the experiences. I am thankful for the lessons. I am thankful for it all. Because in the end of this – I’ve learned who I am and who I’m meant to be. I’m optimistic. There will be love. There will be happiness. There will be joy. It is my faith that reminds me that I am not forgotten.

So, for all of you that that think you’ve given your heart for the last time, I want you to stand strong and know that you don’t need to think that. You need to keep your eyes on the sky and know that love will find you. You will find the person you were meant to have.

Motivational Monday Moment – 05.07.18

It’s Monday! I’m excited. Another week down and another chance to do it again. I was thinking of ways that I could inspire and motivate you this weekend. I came across this great quote:

always-rememberjust-keep-moving-forward-inspirational-quote

I loved that. It reminded me that no matter what storm you may find yourself in at the moment that no stressor can break you. You need to just remain flexible and keep moving forward. Isn’t that awesome?

How many times are we overcome by the situations we find ourselves in? The storm seems to be too much for us to handle but I’m telling you that you need to plant your feet firmly to the ground and adjust your umbrella and know that it will stop, It will die down and go away. But, you don’t have to just wait in the rain waiting for it to stop.

You keep living. You keep moving forward. You keep getting up and giving the best of yourself each and every day to the world. You trust the fact that this is not the first storm or the last storm. You just gotta keep moving.

In my storms I’ve learned that flexibility is the key and so is moving forward. I know that life won’t be easy and I trust that in the midst of my storms that God is working on me. I am thankful for the rain because it is cleansing. So, my Motivational Monday Moment is is to allow yourself to be cleaned mentally and spiritually during your stressing storm. Take a deep breath and keep pushing forward because truthfully…you got this!

Motivational Monday Moment – 04.09.18

Happy Monday folks!

I pray that this day is amazing and that this week brings out the best in you. I saw this quote and thought that I wanted to use it in my Motivational Monday Moment.  It says “There’s going to be very painful moments in your life that will change your entire world in a matter of minutes. These moments will change YOU. Let them make you stronger, smarter and kinder. But don’t you go and become someone that you’re not. Cry. Scream if you have too. Then you straighten out that crown and keep it moving.”

Don’t you love it? How true is that? We’ve all been through some things that were designed to break us, but they didn’t. We kept moving. We learned to put our crown on and not let the events change us. I have to remember this. I have to remember that no matter what the enemy does to break me – I’ve survived.

1960e73edca64ac05b49b63fd93704bf

I’ve cried, screamed and cursed until I lost my voice. I still kept moving. The situations/circumstances are not going to be the end of my story. It shouldn’t be the end of yours.

I was on Facebook when this woman was asked about generational curses and how to break the cycle. For those of you unaware, generational curses are simply curses or bad things that are passed down in generations: alcoholism, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, incarceration, etc. They are things that many black folks don’t want to speak of but they are real. The Bible talks about them in Exodus 34:7:

Exodus 34:7  (NRSV)

keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation,[a]
forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,
yet by no means clearing the guilty,
but visiting the iniquity of the parents
upon the children
and the children’s children,
to the third and the fourth generation.”

She wanted to know how to break a generational curse of not having men in the family. It was divine intervention because it was like I had to respond. I explained that she just needed to make a conscious effort to do better. That she had a choice. When Christ died upon the cross he gave us free will. We all have it.

I explained that I understood about her concerns because many of my traumas ever experienced were caused by boys and men. Yet, God saw fit to give me a son to raise. You see how I thought God had a sense of humor right? He gave me a son to raise in spite of the trauma that man put up on me. But, with that decision He allowed me to know love and to pour in love so pure that my son won’t want to inflict trauma on another woman because his momma raised him right.

By living, learning and understanding the pain that I experienced and asking God to heal and love me, it allowed me to know love. A healthy love. I didn’t let my traumas break me. My pain had a purpose. A purpose to know love and a purpose to show love.

So, my Motivational Monday Moment is about getting up and not letting the pain distract you from your purpose. It’s okay to be emotional about your situation and your set back, but you have to know that it is only in your comeback that you show your true strength. Just keep getting up and moving.

Motivational Monday Moment – 04.02.18

Today is the first Monday in April. There are five Mondays this month. Cool huh? Each is a chance to motivate you and get your week started off right. I didn’t want to stop trying to motivate you even though I’m participating in the A to Z Challenge so on Mondays you’ll see two posts. The first will be my Motivational Monday Moment and the second one will be posted hours apart which will be the letter for the day in the A to Z Challenge.

Now, the quote below spoke to my spirit something fierce. It states “Nobody can bring you peace but yourself” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote is the truth. A lot of times we are angry and outraged over the drama that others may bring to our lives. We try to ignore, rationalize and disconnect ourselves from it, but that doesn’t always work. Sometimes we find our peace disturbed. I know I have.

new10_0

But, we can’t let others control our peace. We have to remove ourselves from toxic situations that seek to destroy our peace. Our peace is sacred and can we really be mad at people that disturb it or rather should we be mad at ourselves for allowing it to be destroyed? I think the latter would apply. We are masters of our own fate.

So, my Motivational Monday Moment is about protecting our peace. We are in charge of our own peace because it resides in each of us. No more letting your soul be in turmoil and unrest. You have to protect your peace. It’s yours. Practice protecting your peace today.

Motivational Monday Moment – 03.26.18

Today’s Motivational Monday Moment was inspired by this post that states “Sometimes the strongest people in the morning are the people who cried all night.” I love this quote because I’ve been there. I’ve cried all night only to wake in the morning knowing that I had to get up and get going because I still needed to run the race that I am in.

a4595eefd5124b9b4b9c950ec11c7424

The thing is that it is okay to cry. It’s okay to cry all night. Heck, I’ve done it. Been there. Multiple times. But, I get up each morning, adjust my crown and keep it moving. Nothing is going to stop me from participating in this thing called life.

See, life is hard. Truthfully, it can be the best of times or the worst of times depending on the season that you find yourself in. Know that it is just a season. It will pass. You will have good days and bad days, but the key is to get up and keep living those days. Nothing should stop you from moving forward. Not even the pain.

In the Baptist church I’ve heard many preachers say that “Joy cometh in the morning” and I used to be mad because I’d wake up and still be in immense pain from the situation that was affecting me. But, I realized as I aged was that the saying was not that your problems would be over, but that you woke up and you lived to see another morning and that my friends is why you should have joy.

You can cry. You can curse. You can wallow in self-pity about your lot in life or the hand that you’ve been dealt, but you have to remember that you are stronger in the morning. Why? Because you woke up and you kept going instead of letting your situation beat you down or hold you down. You are stronger because you kept going.

So, my Motivational Monday Moment is about believing that “Sometimes the strongest people in the morning are the people who cried all night.” You can cry. You can cry all night. But, when the morning comes love…you need to get up and fight. Fight for the new day you’ve been given. You owe it to your family. You owe it to yourself. Everyone has a battle. Everyone has a story. How will your story end?

Happy Monday loves!

Motivational Monday Moment – 03.19.18

I’m back! I’ve missed you so much. I’ve been sick this last week and now I’m trying to get back in the swing of things. I’m a work in progress as I’m trying to keep peace in my spirit because I can’t take the stress. I’m scheduled to have surgery in the next couple of months and I know that my doctor won’t do it with high blood pressure so I’m working on releasing my stress. That’s why I didn’t post last week.

I ran across this post that inspired me and I wanted to share it with you in my Motivational Monday Moment. It says “Peace is the result of restraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be”. This is so accurate. This is where I want to be. However, I am not.

4_19

I think of things in terms of absolute. I’ve told you this before. Things are black and white. They are or they aren’t. There are no shades of gray with me. This causes major issues when I deal with people that don’t make sense. When I deal with irrational and non-reasonable thinking people I get overwhelmed.

I wonder… how can you think like that? The answer is simple. You are the cause of your own issue. Don’t you see that?  They don’t. But, I’m stressing myself out wanting them to somehow be different. Is it possible for them to be different? No, yes, maybe?

I’ve learned that I need to stop trying to overthink and over analyze it.  It is what it is and the unnecessary frustrations that disrupt my peace are a result of my own doing. I am responsible for me. That’s it. I can’t make a square peg fit into a round hole. I have to protect my peace and retrain my mind. Things are as they are and not how they should be.

It’s hard. It’s really hard. I know. I get it. My girlfriend said that her therapist had told her that she needed to realize that her ex was an orange and will always be an orange. My therapist refers to it as me having expectations of other people. She says that I should expect that they are who they show me. Do you know people like that?

Well, my Motivational Monday Moment is about encouraging us to find our peace. Our “Peace is the result of restraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be”. Can you do that? I’m willing to try.

Motivational Monday Moment – 03.05.18

It is the first Monday in March. How are you surviving? I decided that this month I wanted to find a quote that stood out to me and motivate you in this journey called life. Give you nuggets of wisdom that will help you get through the week.

So, every Monday going forward I will try to find a quote that speaks to my spirit of where I am and encourage you. I aim to be as transparent as possible with my readers and I just want you to know that even if you see a smile, sometimes I’m going through hell just like you. Being a Christian ain’t easy and staying motivated is sometimes harder than you can imagine.

First up is this quote that I saw last week. Please bear with me if I can’t remember the blogger that shared this quote first, but I saw it a couple of times. It was as if God was speaking to me. To remind me that the things that I’m going through are only temporary. I must keep moving forward. To not let the pain or anger weigh my spirit down.

This quote “Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside and weigh you down.” How true is that? How many times have you let the water of your circumstances weigh your spirit (ship) down? Umm, let me raise my hand.

ships-dont-sink-because-of-the-water-around-them

See, I’ve been going through some things and I reached out to a friend who reminded me of the space that I need to get too. To remember that the enemy is always trying to attack, but stay steadfast in protecting my ship (my mind and life). Why is that so difficult to do?

Because we are human. But, my ship is full. Part of that ship is counting the blessings that are on board. My family, my friends and my love. All things that matter to me. I’m staying in the moment of gratefulness and trying to not allow those situations to dissolve and change me. I am bigger than my problems.

That’s my Motivational Monday Moment. Remember to not let what is happening around you weigh you down. You are stronger than you know. Remain unmovable and steadfast. This life is the only one that you’ll get, so don’t let your problems overtake your boat.
