It’s About Time

So, I had the opportunity to read a great post a couple of weeks ago by Elissa over at Embracing My Inner Ginger entitled Loving Me. It was simply a love letter to herself. I was immediately excited and wanted to post a letter to myself because we all need encouragement. We all need to remember that we’re pretty darn incredible.

Here goes…

Dear Beautiful,

Yeah you. I’m talking to you. You are beautiful. Just the way you are. Don’t think because you have thick thighs, a thick waist and a big butt that you are not the envy of some other women. You have to love the body that you are in. Honor it as a temple each and every day.

That means that you need to exercise regularly, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. Do not deny your body the time it needs to heal.  Practice mindful eating and learn to relax. You take things so seriously babe. You need to be able to walk away from things that are not good for you. You need to know that you are not defined by the number of times you’ve failed. You’re defined by the number of times you keep getting up.

You are a conqueror. You’re a survivor. You’re a mother. You’re an ex-wife…and that’s okay too. You will heal. You will love again. You will believe that your greater is coming. It is in your ability to forgive yourself that you will find your strength and power. You will realize that you were the only one holding yourself back.

All men are not like your daddy. Stop pushing away the people who just want to love you. Not those that try to take advantage of you – keep checking them at the door boo, but those that want to know the real you. Those that see the beauty and individuality of your spirit and simply want to love you. Allow God to open your eyes to the fact that there are some pretty wonderful men out there. Give those great men an opportunity to get to know the real you.

Stay strong and be encouraged. Don’t just stop with you. It is of great importance that you continue to live, listen and love endlessly. To give back to the community. To help develop young minds, fight for injustices and encourage sisterhood. Sisterhood is the anchor that will hold you during times of trouble. Women need to be encouraged. Young ladies need to know your story. You need to share your testimony because someone may feel invaluable, but your testimony will teach them that they are invincible.

You are a sweet sensitive soul on the inside and I pray that you will share more of you with everyone. Let down some of the walls. Don’t spend your life trying to keep people out. Know that those walls are blocking you from becoming and receiving all you were meant to be. Love all of you (even that funny shaped nose you hate so much) and when you’re at that point when you love all of you and see the good in you and not just the bad…

Let him love you. Let the man that God has sent you…inside your heart. Inside your spirit and know that you deserve happiness boo.

    1. Yes, please do and tag me when you do so that I can share it. We all need to remember that we are women and to celebrate our successes, hardships or failures. That’s what makes us human. It’s women’s history month so please write that letter.
